Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about PixServe.

General

What is PixServe?

PixServe is a free image hosting service launched in 2019. We provide fast, reliable image hosting with direct hotlinks and global CDN delivery. Images are served from over 200 edge locations worldwide.

Who runs PixServe?

PixServe LLC is a small, independently-funded team based in Sheridan, Wyoming, United States.

Uploads & Accounts

Do I need an account to view images?

No. Anyone with a direct link can view an image. No account, login, or registration is required to view hosted images.

Do I need an account to upload?

Yes. As of March 2024, uploads require a registered account. However, new account registrations are currently suspended while we implement enhanced identity verification measures to meet regulatory requirements. Existing accounts can still upload normally. See our blog post for details.

Why can't I create an account?

New registrations are temporarily paused as of June 2025. We are implementing a new identity verification system in response to evolving regulatory requirements for user-generated content platforms. We don't have a firm timeline for when signups will reopen. Check our blog for updates.

Why did you start requiring accounts in the first place?

In early 2024, we experienced a surge in automated spam uploads and CSAM material. Requiring email verification allowed us to better enforce our Terms of Service. See our original announcement for background.

Can I delete an image I uploaded?

Yes — log in to your account and navigate to your uploads dashboard. If you uploaded anonymously before March 2024, you can request removal via our abuse reporting page.

URLs & Technical

Why do image URLs look like random characters?

Each upload receives a unique cryptographic identifier. This ensures images are private by default — only people with the exact URL can access them. This is an industry-standard practice used by most modern image hosting services.

Can I use PixServe images on my website?

Yes. All image URLs are direct hotlinks. You can embed them in HTML, Markdown, forums, or any other platform. We do not add interstitials, redirects, or watermarks.

Is there a file size limit?

Free accounts: 25 MB per image. We support JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and AVIF formats.

Is there an API?

We offer a REST API for programmatic uploads. Documentation is being updated for the new account requirement and will be available at /docs soon.

Legal & Content

How do I report illegal content?

Use our abuse reporting form at /abuse or email abuse@pixserve.cc. We take all reports seriously and respond within 48 hours.

How do I request content removal (DMCA)?

Copyright holders can file a DMCA takedown notice. See our DMCA policy for the full process and requirements.

Does PixServe comply with GDPR?

PixServe does not maintain an establishment in the EU/EEA. We collect minimal personal data necessary to operate the service. For data inquiries, see our Privacy Policy.
